When we are too focused on achieving that one big thing, we miss out on opportunities to learn. Someone asked, “What is my long-term goal?” I replied, “Well, I’ll be fifty next year, so let me rephrase your question,” “What have I learnt over the last 20 years?” Beside getting degree, starting a business, raising Kids, I replied, “I’ve discovered who I am, my likes and dislikes, I’ve learned how to discern people, and how to manage my time and money including saying no” I’ve learned how to have more patience, how to forgive, and how to love.
When it comes to affairs of others , I’ve learned when to keep my mouth shut and when to speak up. I’ve learnt that achieving that one big thing may mean receiving a silver medal. Passion feeds life, it motivates you, and as long as you’re driven by it you’ll win the gold. So what’s my long term goal? To feed my passion.
