It just occurred to me that everyone around me, including friends, already have kids that graduated from high school and college, and some are even grandmothers. My youngest child is 11, I am in the prime of my life, or so I thought. I’m still not sure how it happened, immaculate conception lol I sometimes feel like Mary did when she was told she was not only pregnant, but that she would give birth to the “world’s savior” Well, my last born, he is torn between saving and destroying, and I can’t tell which will become more dominant as he grows older. I’ve looked at his astrology birth chart, you know, looking for information on which way he will go haha.
So, what is the optimal age to have a child? First and foremost, when you are financially and emotionally and physically able to do so. I had my first child at the age of 26, and while I struggled to care for him at first, emotionally, I was able to pull through when I had to pick between purchasing food and paying the gas bill.
I had my second child at the age of 32, by which time I was financially secure, cognitively healthy, emotionally stable, and more mature, and the nine-month shift, including delivery, went smoothly. I was happy.
The third wasn’t planned; at 38/39, I was already exhausted from working full-time and caring for the home; basically, I had no energy left. I believe this is the time when a woman’s vitality starts to deplete, nature take course, the body produces less estrogen, and is getting ready for the next stage of womanhood.
My third born, on the other hand, was the one who taught me about patience, forgiveness, and unconditional love.
