
We can have an unconscious belief that we don’t deserve to be happy in all aspects of our lives and go from caring excessively about others, to not caring at all, yet not caring or pretending not to care merely disconnects us from our true feelings. If our hearts are cut off as a result of circumstance or hurt, we are cut off from all things that brings pleasure, gradually, our ability to accept or even know what has meaning in our life is hampered. We become out of touch, unaware of, and unresponsive to others when we dissociate. Understanding ourselves better can assist us in distinguishing between what is genuine and what is self-sabotage.
